There are as many theories about paranormal events as there are investigating teams currently working. However there are three main types of so called Hauntings that are common throughout the field. The Four main types of Paranormal activity are:
- Residual
- Intelligent
- Non-human or Demonic
- Poltergeist
A quick search on the internet will reveal the many varied descriptions of each type but essentially it all boils down to these main types:
Residual: This type of haunting is where certain incidents recur over and over again normally around the same times or dates. The theory on this is that a place whether it be a house or a building has an energy memory that some how plays pack on a loop regardless of changes in the structure often causing the energy to appear to walk through walls or windows. For the most part these types of hauntings will not interact nor will they change and will often be seen in the same places. It is unknown what causes this Type of incident but many feel that people maintain a strong energy and this energy is stored in the place a person loves most or where they had the strongest ties due to emotional stressor traumatic incident.
Intelligent: This is a catch all category for hauntings that don’t seem to fit into the other three categories. This type will interact and the theory is that this kind occur when a person fails to “move on”. This type of hauntings will vary in frequency and location of occurrence. This will often result in interaction with the entity such as voices, unusual noises and responses to questions and actions by investigators or the occupant of the structure.
Demonic (non-Human): Extremely dangerous. This type of incident is often aggressive and terrorizing. This will often result in attempts to scare or terrify the occupants or in the worst case scenario possession. Often this type will start friendly enough but can quickly turn dangerous. Many times this occurs with the use of ouija boards or seances which demons use as a portal to gain entry. There are often strong foul smelling odors associated with their presence and they have no problem showing themselves to people in order to break them down. Poltergeist: Originally from the term “noisy Spirit” this type is usually associated with a teenage girl. Who unknown to them can affect the energy around them. For some reason the activity will surround one certain person. It will however affect those around them and will be visible and interact with others. However the activity will be less when the person is not at the location. This type can start and stop for no seeable reason. The person who is the center of the incidents is usually under some form of stress such as that occurs during their turbulent teenage years. Most of the incidents involve items being thrown and many varied noises being heard around the time of the incidents.
